Happy snowflake
I just love this. I got home to find a christmas card from work, with a cutout of a smiley snowflake on it. So cute! :)

Vista RC1
So, it's finally here... Rc1 of vista's first Service pack is out. It's been installing for about an hour now, and it's 46% complete. Of stage 1 that is. 2 more stages to go. Maybe it'll be actually complete by midnight...
Royal Mail Rant
I'm looking forward to moving house next month more and more every day. Today's reason - the postman here has been traditionally late over the past year - maybe around 11am. Over the last week or so though, he's been turning up whenever he can be bothered - yesterday he didn't come til about 2pm, today it's 12.30pm already and he's still not here.
I don't care about "repercussions of the strike action" that happened, or about "increased workloads". I just want my mail. Now.
At least where I'm moving to is about a two minute walk from the sorting office, and post seems to arrive there quite early.
There. Rant over.

Free Brita Water Filters
Bit of a "Stop Press" moment, this. Amazon.co.uk (and the Daily Mail - ugh) are giving away free water filter jugs worth £15.
Go to http://www.amazon.co.uk/aquaoptimaoffer, scroll down, tick the box for the water jug (don't add cartridges), click "add to basket", and go through to the checkout. Then, type promotion code 2N3QXJXD in the box on the right, and (this is important) select "Super Saver Delivery". Then, complete your order and you get it for free!
My order's placed already...

Bah, Humbug?
At risk of being branded a humbug, the first set of christmas carollers turned up tonight. I didn't have the desire to give them any money, so I gave them some Pringles that are past their best-before date and gestured for them to bog off.
If I *want* to buy carolling services, I'll hire someone in the yellow pages to sing.
Yesterday, some woman came round trying to get me to sign up to a direct debit for a charity. A couple of months ago, it was kids trying to get me to give - yes, *give*, them free sweets. Halloween, or something.
What's this "something for nothing culture"? And why is it trespassing on my property, only to emotionally blackmail me into giving away free stuff?

On The Road To A New Flat
We're on the road to getting this new flat sorted. We've sent in ID and just have to wait for our credit checks and references to pass :)
In other news, I'll be working tonight and tomorrow at the Debenhams call centre, so if you call through maybe you'll speak to me...

First Come, First Served?
Nadine and I have found a really nice flat that we want to let. Only problem is there are about 2000 other people in the area all looking for nice flats, so I'm gearing up to go to the letting agents tomorrow and camp outside their offices before they open with a (proverbial) wodge of cash. Or "ca$h", if you prefer. Hopefully it won't rain. Much.
